This is a letter and a reminder to you and myself, that you are worthy of happiness, love, success, self-believe, health, fun and freedom.
This is a letter, and a reminder to you and myself that skinny isn't the new happy and perfect isn't the new free.
I catch myself prioritizing and worrying about my looks more than the function of my body again and again. I have been battling a very distorted self-image in the past.
Today I really can say that my health and wellbeing is so much more important to me than anything else.
However, social media and society constantly tell us that as a woman what you need to be to be worthy isn't smart, strong, funny, intelligent or independent. To be successful in a social sense, you need to be pretty, skinny and smiling nicely.
Don't speak up against authorities. Don't speak up against men.
This is not true, and this is not who you are supposed to be.
Yes, we do not see smart women in magazines, we hardly see athletes in magazines we only see skinny models and perfect lives so even for me it is so hard sometimes to remind myself that this is not what it is about.
It is not about missing your life because you worry about food and fat on your body all the time.
It is not about keeping yourself small to make it more comfortable for people and men around you.
It is not about letting fear control you and never believe in your abilities and dreams.
It is not about crying at night and wishing a boy would recognize you or people would call you pretty.
It's not about that.
Beauty will change.
Everybody ages even the people who desperately try to stop it
The idea of beauty changes all the time.
Don’t chase something boring and not - lasting.
Be kind, be a good person, be smart, go for your dreams, make other people smile, care about your health.
Your life will be over at some point.
And then your dreams will either be lived or not.
Your life will be filled with great memories or memories of calorie counting and self-doubt.
Your life story will either inspire others or be the miserable story of a beautiful person that let society suck out their power and make them believe they are worth less than they are.
This is a letter and a reminder to you and myself, that you are worthy of happiness, love, success, self-believe, health, fun and freedom.
